Program Overview
Differently Abled refers to individuals with physical, sensory, intellectual, or mental health challenges who possess unique abilities and strengths. Rather than focusing on limitations, this perspective emphasizes inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities for all individuals to participate fully in society.
From an NGO perspective, supporting differently abled individuals involves creating an inclusive environment where they can live with dignity, independence, and self-confidence. NGOs work to promote accessibility in education, employment, healthcare, and public spaces, ensuring that barriers—both physical and social—are reduced or removed.
They provide various support services such as assistive devices, skill development training, special education, and vocational programs to enhance independence and livelihood opportunities. Awareness campaigns are also conducted to reduce stigma and discrimination, encouraging society to adopt a more inclusive and empathetic approach.
